The Winninger Röttgen Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel is a sublime expression of the Terrassenmosel's dramatic, slate-strewn cliffs. The Röttgen vineyard, a dizzyingly steep amphitheater of crumbling blue Devonian slate, catches the intense reflection of the Mosel river, creating a unique microclimate. Here, morning mists encourage the development of noble rot (botrytis), which concentrates the grapes' sugars and acids to an extraordinary degree. Heymann-Löwenstein coaxes this liquid gold through spontaneous fermentation in traditional large oak casks. The resulting wine is a masterclass in tension, balancing opulent, exotic stone fruit and honeyed botrytis notes with a piercing, stony minerality and vibrant acidity that prevents the sweetness from ever feeling heavy.

Established in 1980 by Reinhard Löwenstein and Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein in the historic village of Winningen, the Heymann-Löwenstein estate is a pioneering force in Germany's Terrassenmosel region.
