The Winninger Uhlen Roth Lay Riesling GG is a monumental expression of the Terrassenmosel, sourced from the 'Roth Lay'—the warmest, iron-rich red slate parcel of the legendary Uhlen vineyard. The name 'Lay' derives from an old Celtic word for slate, and the intense red coloration of the rock imparts a distinctively smoky, wild, and deeply mineral character to the wine. Grown on dizzyingly steep, terraced cliffs that require heroic manual labor, the vines dig deep into the fractured stone. In the cellar, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and experiences extensive contact with the lees in traditional large oak casks. This low-intervention approach yields a dry Riesling of immense structure, power, and textural complexity, balancing vibrant acidity with a rich, almost salty minerality.

Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein blev grundlagt i 1980 af Reinhard Löwenstein og Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein og ligger i Winningen i Tysklands dramatiske, stejle Terrassenmosel.
