✨ Technical Specifications

Highland Park, established in 1798 on the windswept Orkney Islands, is steeped in Viking heritage and legendary distillation lore. Founded by Magnus Eunson, a legendary smuggler who hid his illicit spirit beneath the church pulpit, the distillery is famous for its hand-turned floor maltings and the use of aromatic peat cut from nearby Hobbister Moor. Lacking wood, this ancient peat is packed with decomposed heather, imparting a distinctive sweet, floral, and gentle smoky character rather than the medicinal notes of Islay. The Orcadian Vintage 1968 is a legendary release from this northern outpost, matured for decades in hand-selected refill oak casks. It represents the pinnacle of Highland Park's mid-century style, displaying complex layers of dried orange peel, heather honey, warm spices, and a whisper of peat smoke.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1798 in Kirkwall on the remote archipelago of Orkney, Highland Park stands as one of Scotland's most historic and northernmost single malt distilleries. Owned by the Edrington Group, the distillery fiercely guards traditional whisky-making practices, still conducting its own hand-turned floor maltings and cutting dense, heather-rich peat from nearby Hobbister Moor. Maturation takes place predominantly in premium sherry-seasoned oak casks within Orkney's cool, windswept maritime climate. This unique convergence of terroir and technique yields Highland Park's internationally revered signature style, distinguished by gentle aromatic peat smoke, luscious heather-honey sweetness, and rich, complex spice.
