Founded by Magnus Eunson, a direct descendant of Viking pioneers who worked as a beadle by day and an illicit distiller by night, the distillery proudly embraces its Norse roots. The Orkney Single Malt 20 Year Old showcases the unique terroir of these northern islands, where fierce winds prevent trees from growing. Consequently, the local Hobbister Moor peat used to dry the malted barley is packed with decomposing heather, imparting a distinctive, sweet floral smoke rather than the medicinal peatiness found in other Scottish regions. Aged for two decades in hand-selected oak casks, this expression delivers a harmonious balance of rich dried fruits, warm winter spices, wild heather honey, and a gentle, aromatic maritime smoke.

Owned by the Edrington Group, the distillery fiercely guards traditional whisky-making practices, still conducting its own hand-turned floor maltings and cutting dense, heather-rich peat from nearby Hobbister Moor.
