Highland Park, established in 1798 on the windswept Orkney Islands of Scotland, is one of the northernmost distilleries in the world. Founded by Magnus Eunson, a direct descendant of Viking settlers who famously worked as a church beadle by day and an illicit distiller by night, Highland Park is steeped in Norse mythology and island folklore. The defining character of this 32-year-old single malt comes from Orkney's unique Hobbister Moor peat, which is rich in heather and entirely devoid of trees, imparting a distinct, sweet, floral smoke rather than the medicinal peat found in Islay whiskies. Slowly matured for over three decades in hand-selected sherry-seasoned oak casks, this rare expression represents the pinnacle of patience. It delivers an extraordinarily complex profile of rich dried fruits, warm winter spices, dark chocolate, and a whisper of gentle, aromatic heather peat smoke.
