✨ Technical Specifications

Highland Park, established in 1798 on the windswept Orkney Islands, is steeped in Viking heritage and smuggling lore. Founded by Magnus Eunson, a direct descendant of Viking settlers who famously hid his illicit spirit under the church pulpit, Highland Park remains one of the world's northernmost distilleries. The Orkney Single Malt distilled in 1993 represents a classic expression of this legendary distillery's artisanal methods. It is crafted using local Orcadian peat from the Hobbister Moor, which is packed with decomposed heather rather than wood, imparting a uniquely sweet, floral, and aromatic smoke. Combined with traditional floor maltings and long maturation in hand-selected Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks, this expression delivers a complex profile of heather honey, rich dried fruits, warm winter spices, and a subtle maritime salinity carried on the wild North Sea winds.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1798 in Kirkwall on the remote archipelago of Orkney, Highland Park stands as one of Scotland's most historic and northernmost single malt distilleries. Owned by the Edrington Group, the distillery fiercely guards traditional whisky-making practices, still conducting its own hand-turned floor maltings and cutting dense, heather-rich peat from nearby Hobbister Moor. Maturation takes place predominantly in premium sherry-seasoned oak casks within Orkney's cool, windswept maritime climate. This unique convergence of terroir and technique yields Highland Park's internationally revered signature style, distinguished by gentle aromatic peat smoke, luscious heather-honey sweetness, and rich, complex spice.
