Hailing from the wind-swept Orkney Islands, Highland Park is one of Scotland's most legendary distilleries, established in 1798 by the colorful smuggler and priest Magnus Eunson. This single malt, matured in a refill bourbon barrel (Cask No 220), showcases the distillery's unique maritime terroir. Unlike Islay peat, Orkney peat is composed almost entirely of ancient, decomposed heather, imparting a delicate, floral, and aromatic smoke rather than medicinal notes. The use of a refill bourbon cask allows the spirit's natural character to shine, offering a beautiful balance of heather honey, soft peat smoke, citrus peel, and a subtle sea-salt brine.
