Hailing from the windswept Orkney Islands of Scotland, this single malt represents the legendary heritage of Highland Park, a distillery founded in 1798 by the illicit distiller and smuggler Magnus Eunson. Orkney's unique terroir is defined by its harsh, treeless maritime climate, where the peat used to dry the malted barley is composed almost entirely of decomposed heather. This gives the spirit its signature aromatic, sweet, and gentle heathery smoke, distinct from the medicinal peat of Islay. As an independent bottling under the 'Spirits Shop Selection' label, this expression highlights a carefully curated cask that showcases the distillery's traditional floor-malting methods and slow maturation in the cool, salty sea air of the far north.
