by Highland Park
Other Spirit Vintage 📍 Islands, Scotland

⏳ Drinking Window & Cellar Guidance

As a highly aged, rare single malt Scotch whisky, this spirit is fully matured at the time of bottling and does not develop further in glass. It can be kept indefinitely in a sealed bottle, and once opened, it is best savored over 1 to 2 years to preserve its complex aromatic profile.

🍽️ Culinary Pairings

Aged blue cheeses such as Stilton, premium dark chocolate with high cocoa content, or rich roasted game dishes like venison.

✨ Technical Specifications

Highland Park, established in 1798 by the legendary smuggler and beadle Magnus Eunson, is one of the world's northernmost distilleries, located on the windswept Orkney Islands of Scotland. This remote archipelago, steeped in Norse mythology and Viking heritage, provides a unique terroir that deeply influences the spirit. The Orkney Single Malt 1958 represents an ultra-rare, historic expression of this craft. Highland Park's signature style relies on hand-turned floor maltings and the use of ancient, heather-rich peat from nearby Hobbister Moor. This peat burns with a floral sweetness rather than heavy medicinal notes, imparting a delicate, aromatic smokiness. Slow maturation in hand-selected oak casks, kissed by the salty maritime winds of the North Sea, results in a legendary spirit defined by notes of rich dried fruits, warm spices, heather honey, and a whisper of peat smoke.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1798 in Kirkwall on the remote archipelago of Orkney, Highland Park stands as one of Scotland's most historic and northernmost single malt distilleries. Owned by the Edrington Group, the distillery fiercely guards traditional whisky-making practices, still conducting its own hand-turned floor maltings and cutting dense, heather-rich peat from nearby Hobbister Moor. Maturation takes place predominantly in premium sherry-seasoned oak casks within Orkney's cool, windswept maritime climate. This unique convergence of terroir and technique yields Highland Park's internationally revered signature style, distinguished by gentle aromatic peat smoke, luscious heather-honey sweetness, and rich, complex spice.
