✨ Technical Specifications

Hine's 'Early Landed' Cognacs represent one of the most romantic and unique traditions in the spirits world. Originating in the 19th century, this practice involves shipping selected casks of single-vintage Cognac—distilled from the chalky, premier cru soils of Grande Champagne—across the English Channel to age in the United Kingdom. The 1993 vintage was shipped to the damp, cool, and remarkably stable maritime cellars of Bristol shortly after harvest, where it matured until being bottled in 2007. This high-humidity, low-temperature environment drastically alters the aging process compared to the drier cellars of Jarnac, reducing the strength of the alcohol more rapidly than the volume of the liquid. The result is an exceptionally delicate, ethereal Cognac, celebrated for its pale hue, floral elegance, and nuanced notes of citrus peel, orange blossom, and soft oak.

🍾 About the Producer

Established in 1763 and later named in 1817 by Englishman Thomas Hine, Maison Hine is an esteemed Cognac house situated along the banks of the Charente River in Jarnac, France. Holding a distinguished Royal Warrant from Queen Elizabeth II since 1962, the house is celebrated for its artisanal philosophy and dedicated focus on the premier terroirs of Grande and Petite Champagne. Hine is uniquely renowned for its mastery of single-vintage cognacs, including both classic Jarnac-aged releases and rare Early Landed casks matured in the damp, cool cellars of the United Kingdom. Emphasizing elegance, delicate floral aromatics, and minimal oak influence, the maison produces legendary expressions such as Antique XO Premier Cru, Triomphe, and single-harvest Bonneuil vintages.
