Hine's 'Early Landed' Cognacs represent one of the most romantic and distinctive traditions in the spirits world. Originating from the premier cru of Grande Champagne, the young 1987 spirit was shipped in cask to the United Kingdom in 1989 to age in the damp, cool, and remarkably stable maritime cellars of Bristol. This unique aging environment dramatically alters the maturation process compared to the warmer, drier cellars of Jarnac. In the high humidity of England, the casks lose more alcohol than water, resulting in a slow, gentle maturation that preserves the delicate, ethereal floral notes and orchard fruit characteristics of the distillate, while minimizing heavy oak influence. Bottled in 2002, this vintage captures a precise moment of refined elegance, showcasing the historical synergy between French terroir and British cellaring tradition.
