This historic Cuvée honors Hugues Bétault, a key benefactor who rescued the Hospices de Beaune from the devastation of the Thirty Years' War by financing the restoration of its buildings, alongside his brother Louis, who also bequeathed significant assets to the charity. Sourced from choice Beaune Premier Cru parcels—including Les Grèves and Les Aigrots—this Pinot Noir showcases the classic elegance of the appellation. The wine is characterized by its bright ruby hue, expressive aromas of red berries, cherries, and subtle earthy spices, supported by fine-grained tannins and a vibrant mineral core. It is traditionally auctioned in barrel and aged by selected négociants-éleveurs, reflecting centuries of Burgundian heritage.

Founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, Chancellor to the Duke of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins, the Hospices de Beaune was established as a charitable hospital supported by donations of prime vineyard parcels. Today, the historic estate encompasses over 60 hectares of exceptionally situated Premier and Grand Cru vineyards across Burgundy's Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Revered worldwide for its historic charity wine auction held every November since 1859, the domaine employs meticulous, organic viticultural techniques to highlight the uncompromised terroir of each plot.
