Crafted in Lynchburg, Tennessee, Jack Daniel's Birthday Edition Sour Mash 2011 celebrates the elusive birth date of the distillery's founder, Jasper Newton 'Jack' Daniel—a date lost to history due to a local courthouse fire, leading to a tradition of celebrating his birthday throughout the entire month of September. This special release showcases the classic Tennessee whiskey tradition. Made from a mash bill of corn, rye, and malted barley, the spirit undergoes the legendary Lincoln County Process, where it is filtered drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal before aging in charred new American oak barrels. This meticulous process imparts a signature smoothness, rich caramel and vanilla notes, and a gentle toasted oak finish that defines the historic distillery's legacy.
