The 'Lieux-Dits' collection by Jacques Selosse is a masterclass in single-terroir expression, and 'Côte Faron' represents the dramatic, steep, south-facing slopes of the Grand Cru village of Aÿ. Originally released under the name 'Contraste', this Blanc de Noirs is crafted entirely from Pinot Noir. Anselme Selosse utilized a perpetual reserve (solera) system started in 1994 for this cuvée, blending multiple vintages to capture the historical memory of this specific hillside. The intense sun exposure of the Côte Faron vineyard yields a remarkably powerful, structured, and vinous Champagne, which is fermented in oak barrels using indigenous yeasts and bottled with little to no dosage. It offers a profound dialogue between the muscularity of Aÿ Pinot Noir and Selosse's signature oxidative, highly textured, and mineral-driven winemaking style.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1949 in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Champagne Jacques Selosse rose to legendary status under the visionary leadership of Anselme Selosse, who took over the estate in 1974. Applying Burgundian winemaking philosophies to the Côte des Blancs, Anselme pioneered low yields, organic viticulture, and fermentation in oak casks, fundamentally transforming modern Champagne production. The estate is celebrated for its highly individualistic, terroir-driven cuvées, including the solera-aged Substance and the acclaimed Lieux-dits series, which showcase an unparalleled depth, oxidative complexity, and vinous character.
