Pommard is historically celebrated for producing some of the most robust and structured red wines in the Côte de Beaune, often described as masculine. However, the Premier Cru 'Grands Epenots' vineyard, situated on the lower slopes near the border of Beaune, offers a remarkably refined expression of this appellation. The iron-rich, clay-limestone soils of this ancient climat yield a Pinot Noir that beautifully marries Pommard's signature power with an unexpected, velvety grace. Maison Joseph Drouhin approaches this exceptional terroir with characteristic restraint, employing biodynamic farming, gentle maceration, and aging in French oak barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit. The result is a wine of profound depth, showing dark cherry, earthy spice, and structured tannins that soften beautifully with age.

Maison Joseph Drouhin blev grundlagt i 1880 af Joseph Drouhin og er et ikonisk bourgognehus med historisk hovedsæde i hjertet af Beaune. Vinhuset har været i Drouhin-familiens eje gennem fire generationer, og i dag råder domænet over exceptionelle parceller i topappellationer på tværs af Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Chablis samt Willamette Valley i Oregon. Dyrkningen er baseret på certificeret økologisk og biodynamisk vinbrug, og filosofien i kælderen er centreret om naturlig balance, renhed og det uforfalskede udtryk for det enkelte terroir.
