The Piesporter Goldtröpfchen is one of the Mosel's most legendary grand cru vineyards, a steep, south-facing amphitheater that traps heat and coaxes Riesling to perfect ripeness. According to local lore, the vineyard's name—meaning 'little golden droplet'—refers to the glistening morning dew on the grapes, though it also perfectly describes the luscious, honeyed nectar produced here. Julian Haart, utilizing organic viticulture and traditional winemaking in old oak Fuder, coaxes an incredibly precise and vibrant expression of Spätlese from these ancient devonian slate soils. The wine beautifully balances rich, exotic fruit sweetness with a piercing, mineral-driven acidity that prevents it from ever feeling heavy.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2010 by Julian Haart in the historic winegrowing village of Piesport, this Mosel estate has quickly risen to cult status. Having trained under legendary mentors like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Haart applies a meticulous, hands-on approach to farming steep, slate-rich grand cru vineyards such as Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Schubertslay, and Wintricher Ohligsberg. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder, and minimal intervention to preserve the natural tension and purity of the fruit. Julian Haart is globally celebrated for producing incredibly precise, mineral-driven, and elegant Rieslings, particularly his legendary, feather-light Kabinett expressions.
