The Piesporter Schubertslay is one of the Mosel's most legendary and steep grand cru vineyards, characterized by its sheer amphitheater shape, south-facing exposure, and ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. Julian Haart's stewardship of this historic site—following in the footsteps of his mentor Klaus Peter Keller—has cemented its mythical status. The Reserve bottling represents an ultra-precise, deep expression of these old vines, crafted with spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder and extended lees aging. This meticulous process coaxes out a breathtaking play of crystalline slate minerality, vibrant acidity, and subtle herbal and orchard fruit notes, embodying the pinnacle of Mosel Riesling craftsmanship.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2010 by Julian Haart in the historic winegrowing village of Piesport, this Mosel estate has quickly risen to cult status. Having trained under legendary mentors like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Haart applies a meticulous, hands-on approach to farming steep, slate-rich grand cru vineyards such as Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Schubertslay, and Wintricher Ohligsberg. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder, and minimal intervention to preserve the natural tension and purity of the fruit. Julian Haart is globally celebrated for producing incredibly precise, mineral-driven, and elegant Rieslings, particularly his legendary, feather-light Kabinett expressions.
