✨ Technical Specifications
The Wintricher Ohligsberg is a legendary steep-slope vineyard situated along a dramatic bend of the Mosel River. Historically documented as one of the valley's premier sites, its name Ohligsberg likely derives from Ölberg (Mount of Olives), hinting at its ancient, sun-drenched exposure. The terroir is defined by weathered blue and grey Devonian slate, which imparts a distinct, smoky minerality and a wild, exotic fruit character to the Riesling grapes. Julian Haart coaxes incredible tension from this site, utilizing spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder to allow the natural residual sweetness of the Spätlese to harmonize beautifully with a piercing, electric acidity. The result is a wine of breathtaking energy, combining notes of white peach, wet stone, and delicate floral honey.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 2010 by Julian and Nadine Haart, Weingut Julian Haart is situated in the historic village of Piesport along Germany's Middle Mosel. Having honed his craft under iconic masters such as Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Julian quickly established his boutique estate as one of Germany's most revered modern cult producers. Cultivating prized, precipitous slate terroirs including Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Wintricher Ohligsberg, and the legendary ungrafted vines of Schubertslay, the winery prioritizes meticulous vineyard management and low-intervention cellar practices. Julian Haart is acclaimed for producing breathtakingly crystalline, tension-filled Rieslings and refined Pinot Noirs that showcase extraordinary precision, electric acidity, and profound site-specific minerality.
