Hailing from the subtropical climate of Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan, Kavalan's Solist Port Cask Strength Single Malt represents a masterclass in rapid, intense wood maturation. The distillery utilizes pristine, mineral-rich meltwater from the nearby Snow Mountain range to create a remarkably clean spirit. This spirit is then fully matured in hand-selected Portuguese Port casks. Taiwan's dramatic heat and humidity act as an accelerator, causing the oak casks to expand and contract at multiple times the rate seen in traditional cool-climate maturation. This dynamic breathing process coaxes deep, complex notes of dried dark fruits, rich cocoa, and warm spices from the wood in a fraction of the time, resulting in a bold, multi-layered single malt that bridges Taiwanese innovation with traditional Portuguese lodge heritage.

Kavalan Distillery blev grundlagt i 2005 af King Car Group under ledelse af grundlægger Tien-Tsai Lee og er beliggende i Yuanshan i Yilan-distriktet på Taiwan. Destilleriet er opkaldt efter det oprindelige Kavalan-folk fra Yilan-sletten og var pioner inden for taiwansk single malt whisky i verdensklasse, skabt på mineralrigt smeltevand fra den nærliggende Snow Mountain-bjergkæde.
