Kavalan's Vinho Barrique is a legendary expression in the world of single malt whisky, showcasing the innovative spirit of Taiwan's premier distillery. Matured in American oak wine casks that have been meticulously shaved, toasted, and re-charred—a revolutionary cask rejuvenation process known as STR, pioneered by the late Dr. Jim Swan—this expression coaxes rich, caramelized wood sugars and deep fruit notes from the oak. The intense subtropical heat of Yilan County acts as a natural accelerator, compressing years of traditional aging into a rapid, highly concentrated maturation process. This specific single cask bottling, matured using the pure, mineral-rich meltwater of the Snow Mountain range and bottled in 2024, delivers a dramatic symphony of dark berry flavors, baking spices, and complex oak characters.

Kavalan Distillery blev grundlagt i 2005 af King Car Group under ledelse af grundlægger Tien-Tsai Lee og er beliggende i Yuanshan i Yilan-distriktet på Taiwan.
