This exceptional single malt represents Kavalan's mastery of cask maturation, specifically utilizing their signature 'Vinho Barrique' casks. These American oak casks, which previously held fine red and white wines, undergo a meticulous 'STR' (Shaving, Toasting, and Re-charring) process pioneered by the legendary whisky consultant Dr. Jim Swan. Set against the backdrop of Taiwan's Yilan County, where the humid subtropical heat accelerates wood interaction, this expression matures with astonishing speed. The result is a whisky of profound complexity, marrying the pure meltwater of the Snow Mountain range with rich, caramelized wood sugars, dark berry notes, and a complex spice profile born from a unique marriage of science, climate, and traditional craftsmanship.

Kavalan Distillery blev grundlagt i 2005 af King Car Group under ledelse af grundlægger Tien-Tsai Lee og er beliggende i Yuanshan i Yilan-distriktet på Taiwan. Destilleriet er opkaldt efter det oprindelige Kavalan-folk fra Yilan-sletten og var pioner inden for taiwansk single malt whisky i verdensklasse, skabt på mineralrigt smeltevand fra den nærliggende Snow Mountain-bjergkæde.
