Kerloo Cellars' Syrah represents winemaker Ryan Crane's dedication to capturing a Northern Rhône-inspired expression within the dramatic landscapes of Washington State. Drawing inspiration from the wild, untamed call of the near-extinct Whooping Crane, this Syrah is crafted with a low-intervention philosophy that allows the unique terroir of the Columbia and Walla Walla Valleys to shine. Utilizing traditional techniques such as partial whole-cluster fermentation and aging in neutral French oak and concrete, the wine coaxes out the savory, mineral-driven side of the grape. It avoids the heavy-handed oak and over-extraction often found in New World styles, instead delivering a beautifully textured, aromatic profile defined by fresh dark fruits, cracked black pepper, and a distinct earthy complexity that pays homage to classic Old World Syrah.
