The Bagueri Superior line pays homage to Count Silverio de Baguer, a Spanish diplomat who married into local nobility and transformed the viticultural landscape of Goriška Brda from his estate at Dobrovo Castle in the late 19th century. This Merlot is a testament to his legacy, sourced from selected terraced vineyards where vines dig deep into 'opoka'—the region's signature mineral-rich marl and sandstone soil. Benefiting from a unique microclimate where warm Mediterranean breezes meet cool Alpine winds, the grapes develop intense aromatics and balanced acidity. The wine is traditionally matured in a combination of French and American oak barrels for up to two years, resulting in a deeply structured, velvety red with notes of dark cherries, plums, and subtle sweet spices.
