This rare cuvée revives an ancient, near-forgotten winemaking tradition of the Goriška Brda region. Historically, local winemakers disinfected their wooden barrels by burning a selection of dried herbs—most notably rosemary, sage, and bay leaves—inside them. The resulting smoke seasoned the wood, imparting a unique herbal and subtly smoky complexity to the wine stored within, which became known as 'Motnik'. Sourced from the steep, terraced single vineyard of Lisičjak, where vines dig deep into the mineral-rich 'opoka' (marl) soils, this skin-contact white wine undergoes extended maceration. It represents a bridge between medieval cellar folklore and contemporary natural winemaking, capturing the wild, aromatic essence of the Mediterranean breeze meeting the Alps.
