Krug Clos du Mesnil is a legendary single-vineyard, single-vintage Blanc de Blancs that represents a dramatic departure from the house's traditional blending philosophy. Sourced entirely from a tiny, 1.84-hectare walled plot in the heart of the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, this historic vineyard has been protected by stone walls since 1698. When the Krug family purchased the land in 1971, they initially intended to use its Chardonnay to enhance their multi-vintage blends. However, the unique microclimate and chalky soils of this specific clos yielded a wine of such breathtaking purity, tension, and mineral complexity that Krug chose to honor it as a single-vineyard bottling, starting with the iconic 1979 vintage. Fermented in seasoned oak casks, it is a masterclass in precision, combining razor-sharp acidity with a rich, layered texture.

Founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, the House of Krug has established itself as one of Champagne's most legendary and uncompromising names. Operating from its historic cellars at 5 Rue Coquebert, the house is celebrated for its traditional production methods, notably fermenting all its base wines in small oak casks and maintaining an unparalleled library of reserve wines to achieve extraordinary complexity. This meticulous approach yields deeply structured, age-worthy sparkling wines, ranging from the iconic multi-vintage Grande Cuvée to rare, single-vineyard masterpieces like Clos d'Ambonnay, a highly coveted Blanc de Noirs sourced from a tiny walled plot in the heart of Ambonnay.
