The House of Krug was established in 1843 with a singular, revolutionary vision by Joseph Krug: to create the most generous expression of Champagne every single year, regardless of annual climate variations. The Grande Cuvée 156ème Édition is a historic recreation of this dream, crafted around the harvest of the year 2000. To achieve the signature Krug complexity, the chef de cave meticulously blended 135 individual wines from 11 different vintages, spanning from the fresh base of 2000 back to mature reserve wines from 1988. Composed of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier, every component was fermented in traditional seasoned oak casks to develop unparalleled texture and micro-oxygenation. After more than six years of aging on its lees in the cool chalk cellars of Reims, this edition emerged as a masterpiece of depth, tension, and multi-layered complexity, showcasing the legendary longevity of the Krug style.
