The Krug Grande Cuvée 163ème Édition is a testament to the visionary dream of Joseph Krug, who in 1843 set out to craft the most generous expression of Champagne every single year, independent of climatic variations. This specific edition was built around the harvest of 2007, a remarkably unusual year that began with an exceptionally warm spring followed by a cool, rainy summer. To achieve the signature Krug complexity, the Chef de Caves blended 183 individual wines from 12 different vintages, spanning from 1990 to 2007. Every plot's wine was individually fermented in small oak casks, a traditional technique that imparts unparalleled structure and micro-oxygenation. After blending, the bottles rested in the historic chalk cellars of Reims for over seven years, allowing the wine to develop its legendary depth, fine bead, and multifaceted aromatic profile of toasted brioche, citrus confit, and hazelnut.

Founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, the House of Krug has established itself as one of Champagne's most legendary and uncompromising names. Operating from its historic cellars at 5 Rue Coquebert, the house is celebrated for its traditional production methods, notably fermenting all its base wines in small oak casks and maintaining an unparalleled library of reserve wines to achieve extraordinary complexity. This meticulous approach yields deeply structured, age-worthy sparkling wines, ranging from the iconic multi-vintage Grande Cuvée to rare, single-vineyard masterpieces like Clos d'Ambonnay, a highly coveted Blanc de Noirs sourced from a tiny walled plot in the heart of Ambonnay.
