The 164th Edition of Krug Grande Cuvee was created around the harvest of 2008, a remarkably cool and classic vintage in Champagne often referred to as miraculous. To craft this edition, the House of Krug blended 127 wines from 11 different years, spanning from 1990 to 2008. This meticulous process of recreation, envisioned by founder Joseph Krug in 1843, aims to deliver the most generous expression of Champagne regardless of annual climate variations. Every single plot's wine is fermented individually in small, seasoned oak casks, allowing for an astonishing level of precision. The reserve wines, which make up 38% of this blend, lend an incomparable depth, complexity, and maturity, resulting in a Champagne of extraordinary tension, elegance, and longevity.

Founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, the House of Krug has established itself as one of Champagne's most legendary and uncompromising names. Operating from its historic cellars at 5 Rue Coquebert, the house is celebrated for its traditional production methods, notably fermenting all its base wines in small oak casks and maintaining an unparalleled library of reserve wines to achieve extraordinary complexity. This meticulous approach yields deeply structured, age-worthy sparkling wines, ranging from the iconic multi-vintage Grande Cuvée to rare, single-vineyard masterpieces like Clos d'Ambonnay, a highly coveted Blanc de Noirs sourced from a tiny walled plot in the heart of Ambonnay.
