The Krug Grande Cuvée 166ème Édition is a masterpiece of blending, conceived around the harvest of 2010, a year marked by dramatic climatic shifts in Champagne. True to the visionary philosophy of founder Joseph Krug—who sought to create the most generous expression of Champagne every year regardless of vintage variations—this edition is a spectacular assembly of 140 wines from 13 different years, spanning from 1998 to 2010. The final blend is composed of 45% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay, and 16% Meunier, combining the structure of Pinot Noir with the tension of Chardonnay and the fruitiness of Meunier. Individually fermented in small oak casks and aged for over seven years in the deep chalk cellars of Reims, this Champagne achieves a breathtaking complexity, marrying fresh citrus notes with rich gingerbread, toasted hazelnut, and honeyed undertones.
