Hailing from the prestigious Rioja Alavesa sub-region, Torre de Oña is the avant-garde estate of the legendary La Rioja Alta, S.A. group. Situated in the picturesque village of Páganos, under the protective shadow of the Sierra de Cantabria, the estate's 'El Camino' (The Path) pays homage to the historic pilgrim trails and vineyard paths that crisscross this ancient winegrowing landscape. Unlike the ultra-traditional, long-aged style of Haro, El Camino represents a contemporary, terroir-focused expression of Rioja. Crafted predominantly from Tempranillo with a touch of Graciano, the grapes are grown in nutrient-poor, limestone-rich clay soils. The wine is aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, balancing vibrant, juicy red fruit and floral notes with subtle sweet spice, refined tannins, and a signature Alavesa minerality.

La Rioja Alta, S.A. blev grundlagt i 1890 af fem visionære baskiske og riojanske familier i Haros historiske stationskvarter, Barrio de la Estación, og fremstår i dag som et af de mest urokkelige pejlemærker for klassisk vinfremstilling i Rioja. Vingården er kompromisløst dedikeret til kvalitet og autentisk håndværk; de råder over eget bødkeri til fremstilling af deres amerikanske egetræsfade og holder fortsat fast i den hævdvundne tradition med manuel omstikning ved levende lys. Husets fokus er rettet mod førsteklasses egne vinmarker fordelt over Rioja Alta og Rioja Oriental, hvor Tempranillo harmonisk forenes med Garnacha, Graciano og Mazuelo.
