✨ Technical Specifications

The Lagavulin Distillers Edition represents a masterful marriage of peat and sweet. Distilled on the rugged south coast of Islay, this single malt undergoes a secondary maturation in hand-selected Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This double-aging process softens the distillery's signature medicinal peat smoke, coastal brine, and intense tar notes, wrapping them in layers of rich dark chocolate, sticky dates, and sun-dried raisins. The history of Lagavulin is steeped in local lore, from the illicit stills that operated in the secluded cove of Lagavulin Bay in the 18th century to its official founding in 1816. The Distillers Edition showcases how the intense, slow-distilled Islay character can be beautifully rounded by the luscious influence of Spanish sherry wood.

🍾 About the Producer

Officially established in 1816 by John Johnston, Lagavulin is situated on the windswept southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, overlooking the dramatic ruins of Dunyvaig Castle. Today owned by Diageo, the historic distillery is celebrated for its uncompromising dedication to traditional methods, utilising heavily peated malt and remarkably slow distillation in distinctive pear-shaped pot stills. This meticulous process yields an intensely rich, oily, and complex spirit that embodies the quintessential maritime character of southern Islay. Renowned for balancing ferocious peat smoke, brine, and medicinal notes with deep dried-fruit sweetness, Lagavulin achieves its definitive expression in its legendary 16 Year Old single malt.
