The Lagavulin Distillers Edition represents a masterful marriage of peat and sweet. First distilled in the slow, pear-shaped copper pot stills of Islay's southern coast, this single malt undergoes its primary maturation in traditional oak casks before being transferred for a secondary maturation, or 'double-mating', in casks that previously held rich, sticky Pedro Xim nez (PX) sherry. This finishing process softens the fierce, medicinal peat smoke and coastal brine of the classic Lagavulin character, wrapping it in layers of dark raisins, prunes, treacle, and warming spices. The history of the distillery, dating back to 1816, is deeply intertwined with the rugged Islay landscape, where the damp sea air and peat bogs impart a legendary maritime signature to the spirit.

Officially established in 1816 by John Johnston, Lagavulin is situated on the windswept southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, overlooking the dramatic ruins of Dunyvaig Castle. Today owned by Diageo, the historic distillery is celebrated for its uncompromising dedication to traditional methods, utilising heavily peated malt and remarkably slow distillation in distinctive pear-shaped pot stills.
