The Lagavulin Distillers Edition is a masterclass in the art of double maturation, marrying the intense, peat-smoke character of Islay with the luscious sweetness of Spanish sherry casks. Distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2000 under batch lgv.4/465, this expression spent its primary maturation in traditional oak before being transferred to seasoned Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks for a finishing period. This secondary aging softens the distillery's signature medicinal, maritime, and heavy peat smoke notes, layering them with rich, velvety undertones of dark chocolate, raisins, dates, and sweet baking spices. Situated on the rocky shores of Lagavulin Bay, the distillery's slow distillation in pear-shaped stills and coastal warehouse aging imbue the spirit with a distinct briny depth, celebrated by spirits connoisseurs worldwide.
