✨ Technical Specifications
The Lagavulin Jazz Festival 22 Year Old, bottled in 2020, represents a harmonious duet between Islay's rugged maritime terroir and the refined artistry of long-term maturation. Since 2010, Lagavulin has sponsored the Islay Jazz Festival, bringing world-class music to this remote Scottish island. To celebrate, the distillery releases highly coveted, limited-edition bottlings. This 22-year-old expression showcases Lagavulin's signature intense peat smoke and coastal brine, beautifully mellowed by over two decades of quiet slumber on the shores of Lagavulin Bay. The extended aging in oak casks introduces elegant layers of dried dark fruits, rich molasses, and warm baking spices that perfectly balance the spirit's medicinal and smoky backbone.
🍾 About the Producer
Officially established in 1816 by John Johnston, Lagavulin is situated on the windswept southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, overlooking the dramatic ruins of Dunyvaig Castle. Today owned by Diageo, the historic distillery is celebrated for its uncompromising dedication to traditional methods, utilising heavily peated malt and remarkably slow distillation in distinctive pear-shaped pot stills. This meticulous process yields an intensely rich, oily, and complex spirit that embodies the quintessential maritime character of southern Islay. Renowned for balancing ferocious peat smoke, brine, and medicinal notes with deep dried-fruit sweetness, Lagavulin achieves its definitive expression in its legendary 16 Year Old single malt.
