✨ Technical Specifications

Part of Diageo's highly prestigious and curated Prima & Ultima series, this extraordinary 28-year-old single malt was distilled in 1992 and bottled in 2021. Hand-selected by Master Blender Maureen Robinson, this release represents a historic liquid milestone, captured from refill American oak casks that quietly matured on the windswept shores of Islay. Over nearly three decades of slumber, the distillery's signature intense, medicinal peat smoke has beautifully mellowed, transforming into a sophisticated and complex profile. It weaves together notes of smoldering driftwood, brine, lapsang souchong tea, and a surprising, delicate sweetness of dried orchard fruits, all carried by a rich, oily texture that speaks to Lagavulin's legendary slow distillation process.

🍾 About the Producer

Officially established in 1816 by John Johnston, Lagavulin is situated on the windswept southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, overlooking the dramatic ruins of Dunyvaig Castle. Today owned by Diageo, the historic distillery is celebrated for its uncompromising dedication to traditional methods, utilising heavily peated malt and remarkably slow distillation in distinctive pear-shaped pot stills. This meticulous process yields an intensely rich, oily, and complex spirit that embodies the quintessential maritime character of southern Islay. Renowned for balancing ferocious peat smoke, brine, and medicinal notes with deep dried-fruit sweetness, Lagavulin achieves its definitive expression in its legendary 16 Year Old single malt.
