✨ Technical Specifications

Part of Diageo's highly prestigious Prima & Ultima collection, this exceptional 25-year-old single malt from Lagavulin was distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2022. Selected by Master Blender Dr. Craig Wilson, this rare expression was matured in a single refill European oak butt, showcasing a magnificent harmony between Lagavulin's legendary maritime peat smoke and the elegant, spicy influence of seasoned European oak. Distilled during a historic era at the distillery on the rocky shores of Islay, its slow distillation in pear-shaped stills yields a spirit of immense depth. Over a quarter-century of quiet maturation, the intense, medicinal smoke has mellowed into a complex tapestry of rich dried fruits, dark cacao, sea salt, and lingering wood spice.

🍾 About the Producer

Officially established in 1816 by John Johnston, Lagavulin is situated on the windswept southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, overlooking the dramatic ruins of Dunyvaig Castle. Today owned by Diageo, the historic distillery is celebrated for its uncompromising dedication to traditional methods, utilising heavily peated malt and remarkably slow distillation in distinctive pear-shaped pot stills. This meticulous process yields an intensely rich, oily, and complex spirit that embodies the quintessential maritime character of southern Islay. Renowned for balancing ferocious peat smoke, brine, and medicinal notes with deep dried-fruit sweetness, Lagavulin achieves its definitive expression in its legendary 16 Year Old single malt.
