Ready to enjoy upon release. Unlike fine wine, this ultra-aged single malt does not mature further in the bottle, but it will maintain its extraordinary complexity and peak quality indefinitely when stored upright in a cool, dark place.

Artisanal blue cheeses such as Stilton, premium dark chocolate with a high cacao percentage, and slow-roasted game meats like venison.

✨ wine.spec_sheet

Laphroaig, established in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston on the rugged southern coast of Islay, is legendary for its uncompromisingly peated, medicinal, and maritime single malts. The Laphroaig 40-Year-Old is an exceedingly rare jewel in the distillery's history, distilled in the mid-20th century and matured in seasoned casks, most notably Oloroso sherry butts. Over four decades of slumber in warehouses kissed by Atlantic gales, the aggressive, tarry peat smoke of Laphroaig's youth has transformed. It yields a sublime, ethereal complexity where soft, elegant peat smoke weaves through rich notes of tropical fruits, old leather, beeswax, and delicate sea salt. This expression represents the pinnacle of Islay craftsmanship, utilizing water from the historic Kilbride Stream and barley partially dried over hand-cut peat from the Glenmachrie peat moss.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, Laphroaig Distillery is situated on the rugged south coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland. Celebrated globally for its distinctively bold, peaty, and medicinal character, the distillery remains one of the few that still utilizes traditional floor maltings to dry its barley over local, hand-cut Islay peat. This artisanal heritage, paired with distillation in unique copper pot stills and maturation primarily in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, defines its legendary portfolio, which includes the iconic 10 Year Old, Quarter Cask, and highly coveted aged limited editions.
