It is ready to enjoy immediately upon release and will remain in pristine condition for decades if stored upright and away from direct sunlight. Once opened, it is best enjoyed within 1 to 2 years to prevent the delicate peat esters from oxidizing.

Hailing from the rugged, wind-swept south coast of Islay, Laphroaig has been crafting its famously uncompromising single malts since 1815. The Original Cask Strength Batch 011, bottled in 2019 at 10 years of age, represents the distillery's signature style in its purest, most potent form. Matured in seasoned ex-bourbon barrels and bottled straight from the cask without chill-filtration, this expression delivers the full force of Islay's terroir. The distillery's water source, the Kilbride Stream, runs over local peat, while their hand-cut Glenmachrie peat moss imparts a distinctively medicinal, iodine, and seaweed-rich smoke. Legend has it that during American Prohibition, Laphroaig was legally imported as a 'medicinal spirit' because its intense, iodine-like aroma convinced customs officials it couldn't possibly be enjoyed for pleasure. This batch captures that historic, untamed character with notes of sweet vanilla, sea salt, and powerful peat smoke.

Laphroaig blev grundlagt i 1815 af brødrene Donald og Alexander Johnston på den rå sydkyst af Isle of Islay og regnes i dag for et af Skotlands mest ikoniske og karakterfulde single malt-destillerier. Destilleriet er berømt for sin kompromisløse, medicinske og maritime profil og holder de stolte håndværkstraditioner i hævd ved selv at håndstikke lokal Islay-tørv fra Glenmachrie samt drive egne, historiske maltgulve. Kombinationen af koldrøgning og blødt, tørveholdigt vand fra Kilbride Reservoir giver en umiskendelig spiritus, der er rig på noter af tang, jod og markant tørverøg. Destilleriet hører i dag under Suntory Global Spirits og har siden 1994 kunnet pryde sig med et prestigefyldt Royal Warrant som kongelig hofleverandør. Her skabes skoledannende aftapninger, der spænder lige fra den klassiske 10 Year Old og den innovative Quarter Cask til dybt komplekse, eksklusive ældre single malts.
