Laurent-Perrier's Ultra Brut is a historic pioneer in the zero-dosage Champagne category. Its origins date back to 1889, when Mathilde Emilie Perrier, the formidable widow who ran the house, created a 'Grand Vin Sans Sucre' to cater to the dry palates of British connoisseurs. Although the style slipped into obscurity, Bernard de Nonancourt revived it in 1981, launching the modern Ultra Brut. Crafted from a meticulous selection of fully ripe Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from Grand and Premier Cru villages, this cuvée requires exceptional raw material because there is no dosage (added sugar) to mask any imperfections. Aged for at least six years on its lees, this bone-dry Champagne showcases a pure, crystalline expression of terroir, characterized by intense mineral drive, citrus purity, and a remarkably clean finish.
