✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from one of the most celebrated crus of Beaujolais, the Louis Jadot Morgon C$te du Py is a profound expression of the Gamay grape. The C$te du Py is an ancient, extinct volcano, and its slopes are covered in a unique soil known locally as 'roches pourries' or 'rotten rocks'—a decomposed blue schist rich in iron and manganese. Rejecting the standard carbonic maceration common in the region, Jadot employs traditional Burgundian vinification methods for this cuv&e, including destemming and extended maceration followed by aging in French oak barrels. This rigorous approach coaxes out a deep, structured, and muscular wine. With age, this Morgon undergoes a fascinating transformation known as 'morgonner,' where the bright, primary cherry fruit of Gamay evolves into earthy, forest-floor, and spicy complexities that closely mimic fine aged Pinot Noir.
