✨ wine.spec_sheet
Born out of imperial intrigue in 1876, Cristal was originally commissioned by Tsar Alexander II of Russia, who demanded a prestige cuvée presented in clear, flat-bottomed lead-crystal bottles to prevent assassins from hiding explosives in the punt. Today, this legendary champagne remains the pinnacle of Louis Roederer's craftsmanship. Sourced exclusively from the finest Grand Cru vineyards across the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs, Cristal is produced only during exceptional years. The wine undergoes a meticulous aging process, spending an average of six years on its lees followed by eight months of bottle aging post-disgorgement. This patient maturation yields a champagne of unparalleled purity, tension, and chalky minerality, reflecting the limestone-rich soils of its origin.
