✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the steep, sun-drenched granite terraces of the historic Saint-Joseph appellation, M. Chapoutier's 'Les Granits' Rouge is a masterclass in terroir-driven Syrah. The name pays homage to the stony, fractured granite soils of the lieu-dit, where some of the oldest vines in the region cling to precipitous slopes. These ancient vines, farmed strictly under biodynamic principles, yield concentrated grapes that capture the intense minerality and structural power of the northern Rhone. Traditionally vinified with long maceration and aged in French oak barrels, this cuvee reflects the rugged beauty of its birthplace. It offers a complex aromatic profile of dark berries, cracked black pepper, smoky granite, and wild herbs, underpinned by a refined, stony elegance that has defined the region's winemaking heritage for centuries.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage in the Rhône Valley, M. Chapoutier has grown into one of France's most celebrated wine houses, propelled to international acclaim following Michel Chapoutier's visionary leadership in 1990. A pioneer in biodynamic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking, the estate is revered for its single-vineyard 'sélections parcellaires' that articulate the purest nuances of individual terroirs across the Rhône and beyond. Iconic for incorporating Braille script on every label since 1996, Chapoutier produces benchmark expressions of Syrah, Marsanne, and Grenache across prestigious appellations including Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
