✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the steep, sun-drenched granite terraces of Saint-Joseph in the Northern Rhône, M. Chapoutier's 'Les Granits' Blanc is a masterclass in the expression of 100% Marsanne. Michel Chapoutier, a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture, sources these grapes from some of the oldest vines in the appellation, rooted in stony, fractured granite soils that date back to Roman times when soldiers cultivated these very slopes. The wine is fermented and aged on its lees in French oak barrels, resulting in a majestic white of incredible texture, tension, and mineral drive. This assortment case spanning 2011 to 2016 offers a rare vertical journey, showcasing how the youthful, vibrant notes of white peach, acacia, and wet stone transform over time into complex layers of beeswax, toasted hazelnut, and honeyed apricot.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage in the Rhône Valley, M. Chapoutier has grown into one of France's most celebrated wine houses, propelled to international acclaim following Michel Chapoutier's visionary leadership in 1990. A pioneer in biodynamic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking, the estate is revered for its single-vineyard 'sélections parcellaires' that articulate the purest nuances of individual terroirs across the Rhône and beyond. Iconic for incorporating Braille script on every label since 1996, Chapoutier produces benchmark expressions of Syrah, Marsanne, and Grenache across prestigious appellations including Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
