✨ Technical Specifications
Maison Alex Gambal's Bourgogne Rouge represents the estate's dedication to capturing the pure, unadulterated essence of Burgundy. Sourced from carefully selected parcels across the Côte d'Or, this Pinot Noir is crafted with the same precision as the maison's prestigious village and premier cru appellations. Reflecting the transition to organic and biodynamic viticulture, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts, followed by aging in French oak barrels with minimal new oak. The result is a classic, elegant red Burgundy that balances bright red berry fruit with subtle earthy undertones and a fine mineral spine, echoing the rich winemaking heritage of Beaune.
🍾 About the Producer
Maison Alex Gambal was established in 1997 by Washington, D.C. native Alex Gambal after studying at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune and apprenticing under legendary Burgundy broker Becky Wasserman. Gambal broke traditional boundaries by assembling prestigious estate vineyards alongside curated négociant fruit across prime climats in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, including parcels in Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Meursault, and Bâtard-Montrachet. Viticulture prioritized organic and biodynamic tenets, channeling low yields and pristine grape health from limestone-clay terroirs. Cellar craftsmanship favored non-interventionist principles: indigenous yeast fermentations, extended barrel maturation with prudent new French oak, and bottling without fining or filtration to safeguard site transparency. Acquired in 2019 by the Boisset Collection, the house maintains its focused approach under enologist Laure Guilloteau. Renowned benchmark expressions include Meursault Clos Cromin, Bourgogne Pinot Noir Cuvée Les Deux Papis, and grand cru bottlings celebrated for their precision, textural depth, and authentic Burgundian terroir articulation.
