Markus Molitor's Wehlener Klosterberg Pinot Blanc represents a masterclass in cool-climate, slate-driven Pinot Blanc (Weisser Burgunder). Situated on the steep, stony Devonian slate slopes of the Mosel, the Klosterberg vineyard surrounds the historic Molitor estate. While the Mosel is world-famous for Riesling, Molitor has championed Pinot Blanc here, utilizing old vines and traditional methods. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts in large, neutral oak Fuder casks, followed by extended lees contact. This artisanal approach yields a wine of incredible mineral tension, vibrant acidity, and a creamy, textured mid-palate, showcasing a unique, crystalline expression of the grape that departs from more opulent styles found elsewhere.

Taking over his family's estate in 1984 at just twenty years old, Markus Molitor set out to restore the Mosel region's historic prestige through uncompromising quality and traditional craftsmanship.
