Crafted from the precipitous, blue Devonian slate slopes of the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr—named after the historic 17th-century sundial erected in the vineyard—this rare Eiswein represents the pinnacle of Mosel extreme viticulture. Markus Molitor, a master of precision, coaxes this liquid gold from Riesling grapes left to freeze naturally on the vine, harvested by hand in the freezing pre-dawn hours of winter at temperatures below minus seven degrees Celsius. The immediate pressing of these frozen berries yields an incredibly concentrated nectar where luscious sweetness is perfectly counterbalanced by the Mosel's trademark electric acidity and intense slate minerality.

Founded upon an eighth-generation family viticultural heritage, Weingut Markus Molitor was transformed in 1984 when twenty-year-old Markus Molitor took over the estate at Haus Klosterberg with the dedicated mission of restoring Mosel Riesling to its historic world-class stature. Situated in Bernkastel-Kues in Germany's legendary Mosel region, the winery meticulously cultivates precipitous slate vineyards across renowned grand cru sites such as Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Erdener Treppchen. Molitor practices low yields, ultra-selective late hand-harvesting, and gentle spontaneous fermentation in ancient, deep vaulted cellars with minimal intervention.
