✨ wine.spec_sheet

Crafted to commemorate a century and a half of pioneering winemaking, the Marqués de Riscal 150 Aniversario Gran Reserva is a profound tribute to the estate's historic legacy in Rioja Alavesa. Founded in 1858 by Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga, Marqués de Riscal revolutionized the region by introducing Bordeaux techniques, including French oak barrels and Cabernet Sauvignon vines. This exceptional cuvée honors that heritage, blending predominantly old-vine Tempranillo with a touch of Graciano and Cabernet Sauvignon—a historic exception permitted due to the winery's deep-rooted past. Sourced from estate vineyards with chalky-clay soils, the wine undergoes traditional fermentation before spending upwards of three years in French oak casks, followed by extensive bottle aging. The result is a masterpiece of complexity, weaving together dark balsamic notes, toasted spices, and refined tannins, embodying the soul of classic Rioja.
