✨ wine.spec_sheet

Marqus de Riscal is famously credited with pioneering the modern white wine revolution in Rueda during the early 1970s under the guidance of legendary French enologist mile Peynaud. Finca Montico is a single-vineyard expression of 100% Verdejo, sourced from an old-vine plot characterized by poor, gravelly soils deposited by the Duero River. This stony terroir forces the roots deep, imparting a distinct mineral character. To enhance its texture and complexity, the wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel followed by aging on its fine lees with regular battonage for several months. This technique softens Verdejo's natural high acidity, adding a creamy volume, notes of stone fruit, fennel, and a subtle nutty complexity that honors the historic white winemaking traditions of Castilla y Len.

Founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Am zaga, Herederos del Marqu s de Riscal is one of the oldest and most pioneering wineries in Rioja, located in the historic town of Elciego. Renowned for introducing Bordeaux-style winemaking techniques to Spain, the estate pioneered the use of oak barrel aging in the region and later championed the Rueda DO for white wines. Today, the winery is celebrated for its iconic Frank Gehry-designed City of Wine and its exceptional portfolio, which ranges from traditional, structured Tempranillo-based Rioja Reservas to fresh, aromatic Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc whites.
