The Moonshine Ranch property carries a colorful history, named for its clandestine past as a site for bootlegging and moonshine production during the Prohibition era. Acquired by the Martinelli family in 1997, this Russian River Valley vineyard benefits from the region's signature morning fog and cool coastal breezes, which allow for a slow, even ripening of the grapes. The Pinot Noir crafted from this site is known for its rich, luscious texture, vibrant acidity, and deep dark fruit profile. True to the Martinelli winemaking philosophy, the wine is fermented with wild yeasts and bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving the pure, intense expression of the terroir and the historical land it hails from.

Martinelli Winery blev grundlagt i slutningen af 1880'erne af de italienske immigranter Giuseppe Martinelli og Luisa Vellutini og er i dag en berømmet familieejad vingård med dybe rødder i Californiens Russian River Valley og Sonoma Coast. Gennem mere end et århundrede har familien dyrket historiske, stejle skråninger – herunder de legendariske parceller Jackass Hill og Jackass Vineyard, som blev beplantet helt tilbage i 1887. Drevet af et kompromisløst fokus på eget markarbejde og nænsom vinfremstilling formår vinhuset at indfange Sonoma Countys unikke mikroklimaer og terroir.
