McPherson Cellars, located in Lubbock, Texas, is a cornerstone of the Lone Star State's modern wine industry. Founded by winemaker Kim McPherson, the winery honors the legacy of his father, Dr. Clinton 'Doc' McPherson, a chemistry professor who was a key pioneer in planting the state's first experimental wine grapes in the 1970s. Operating out of a historic 1930s Coca-Cola bottling plant, McPherson Cellars focuses on Mediterranean and Rhône-style varieties uniquely suited to the challenging, semi-arid climate of the Texas High Plains AVA. At elevations of 3,000 to 4,000 feet, the vineyards benefit from intense solar radiation, constant winds, and deep, red sandy loam soils. McPherson Wines blev grundlagt i 1993 af Andrew McPherson som en videreførelse af en stolt vinfamiliearv, der går tilbage til 1968.
